My Morning Salt Solution Ritual

A Simple Biohack That Has Become Part of My Holistic Kate Lifestyle

Every morning begins with a choice.

A choice to nourish my body.A choice to slow down before the world speeds up.A choice to return to simple rituals that have stood the test of time.

Over the years I have experimented with many wellness practices. Some stayed with me, while others quietly disappeared. One ritual that has become a permanent part of my morning routine is my natural salt solution, known in Poland as solanka.

It is incredibly simple to make, costs very little, and reminds me that nature often provides the simplest solutions.

This is not a miracle cure, nor is it a replacement for a healthy diet or medical care. It is simply one of my favourite personal biohacks that helps me start each day mindfully.

Why I Choose Sól Kłodawska

Whenever possible, I prepare my salt solution using Sól Kłodawska—a beautiful, natural Polish rock salt formed around 250 million years ago during the Zechstein period.

Unlike heavily refined table salt, Sól Kłodawska:

  • is naturally unrefined

  • contains no chemical bleaching

  • contains no anti-caking agents such as E536

  • naturally includes small amounts of minerals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium and iron

  • comes from deep underground deposits protected from modern pollution

For me, using a natural ingredient simply feels more aligned with the Holistic Kate philosophy of returning to nature whenever possible.

My Holistic Kate Salt Solution Recipe

Ingredients

  • 250 ml clean glass jar with lid

  • approximately 10 tablespoons of Sól Kłodawska

  • good quality spring water or filtered water

Method

  1. Fill the glass jar with approximately 10 tablespoons of Sól Kłodawska.

  2. Pour in the spring or filtered water until the salt is covered.

  3. Stir gently.

  4. Close the lid.

  5. Leave overnight.

The following morning you may notice that a small amount of salt remains undissolved at the bottom.

I actually like seeing this.

It tells me the water has become fully saturated, meaning it can no longer dissolve any more salt.

My Morning Ritual

Every morning I:

-Wake naturally.

-Drink one large glass (approximately 250–300 ml) of warm water.

-Add one teaspoon of my salt solution.

-Drink it slowly before breakfast.

Then I continue my normal morning routine:

  • gentle stretching

  • breathwork

  • yoga

  • gratitude

  • meditation

  • preparing for the day

This simple ritual reminds me that wellness isn't created by one expensive supplement—it is created by hundreds of small daily choices.

Why I Personally Enjoy This Ritual

For me, this ritual is about much more than salt.

It reminds me to:

  • begin the day hydrated

  • create a mindful morning pause

  • reconnect with natural traditions

  • appreciate simple ingredients

  • honour my Polish roots

  • stay consistent with healthy habits

Sometimes the smallest rituals become the strongest foundations.

Is There Scientific Evidence?

Natural rock salt is primarily sodium chloride and contains only small amounts of naturally occurring trace minerals. Those minerals are present, but not in quantities that should be relied upon to meet daily nutritional requirements.

Many traditional wellness systems have long used concentrated salt brines, but modern scientific evidence for broad health benefits from drinking them is limited.

That is why I see this as my personal wellness ritual, not as a treatment or cure.

Who Should Avoid Salt Solutions?

Because this drink contains sodium, it is not suitable for everyone.

Please speak with your healthcare professional before trying it if you:

  • have high blood pressure

  • have kidney disease

  • have heart failure

  • are on a sodium-restricted diet

  • are pregnant and have been advised to limit salt intake

Wellness should always be personalised.

My Philosophy

People often ask me what the secret is to better health.

I don't believe there is one.

I believe in small habits repeated every single day.

Drink more water.

Move your body.

Breathe deeply.

Sleep well.

Spend time in nature.

Eat real food.

And if a simple morning salt ritual resonates with you, perhaps it can become one more conscious habit on your own wellness journey.

As always, listen to your body, stay curious, and remember:

Health isn't built in one day—it is created one morning at a time.

With love,

Holistic Kate ♾️
